Anatomy and Expression 5-Day workshop will be held at CASCADIA CENTRE in Roberts Creek, BC. June 20-24, 2015 Sat.-Tue. 9:30am -4:30pm; Wed :9:30am-1pm.
The Anatomy and Expression training gathers insights on anatomy and physiology from the foremost contributors to somatic psychology. Each section is taught using a blend of theory and experiential learning including body rolling and movement to engage the tissues, as well as building muscles in plasticine clay using the Maniken teaching skeleton. Applied practice will included embodiment exercises from a wide range of somatic practices, including a special focus on Rosen Method Movement. This training follows the organization of the human organism from birth to adulthood with a focus on how charge moves through the body, and includes anatomy related to the development of body compartments and bands. You will also explore how habit and trauma distort the structural and energetic organization of the body.
Matthew van der Giessen has been integrating our understanding of body and mind for over three decades. He has created programs for massage students, bodyworkers, counsellors and yoga teachers. Matthew’s anatomy trainings help somatic practitioners deepen their experience of the sensory/imaginal body. Body tissues are felt and moved so that they can be experienced from the inside-out. The anatomical path of self-inquiry helps practitioners more fully understand their inner sensory landscape, helping them deepen their ability to meet others from a place of embodied presence.
